Manchester Christmas Market

Manchester Christmas Markets 2009 are now opened from 18 Nov to 22 Dec. There are a few Christmas Markets around Manchester city. The one I visited was at Albert Square which was in front of the Town Hall. It was the biggest one here. It had a nice atmosphere beneath the twinkling lights.

At the market you will find some international foods, jewellery, art & craft, fashion, plants and so on. The thing that made me excited most was the giant German swing grill with big long sausages and hotdog buns cooking on it, they smelled very tasty. There were other European food and sweets such as Pbonwkucheu Pancakes and Bavarian Sweets. You will also find long life sausages, Swiss cheese and British cheese as well. There were huts which served hot mulled wine and beer, the price of alcohol was around 3-4.50pounds. To save the environment, all food stalls used paper plates / bowls and wooden cutlery. You would be required to give one pound deposit for every glasse or mug when you purchased beverage. Hot food and snack prices were about 4 pounds.

The other Christmas markets are at St Ann’s Square, Exchange Street, Brazennose Street, New Cathedral Street, Exchange Square and the Triangle. The frist two place open until 22 Dec and the rest open until 21 Dec.

Has anyone been to the markets? What do you think of it?
