Grill on the Alley is a steak house at Deansgate, Manchester. 2 of us visited it in a Saturday evening for my birthday. We booked a table at 6:15 but our table wasn’t ready until 6:35 so we took a seat and ordered some drinks.

When got a table we started with the Garlic Rub Bread. The main meal were 8 oz Rib Eye Steak with chips (or mash or jacket potato)(£13.50)for me and Flattened Rump Steak for my husband served with small portion of wild mushrooms and balsamic cipolini onions (£12.95). We were a little bit disappointed that the side salad wasn’t really salad, it was just a pinch of watercress. Luckily he ordered some more chips (£2.75) and French beans (£2.95) otherwise he would be still hungry after finishing his steak. I ordered some peppercorn sauce (£1.95) also, it wasn’t peppery at all I had to add lots of pepper in the sauce. The chips were crispy but too much salt. The steaks were under seasoning but well cooked. We had apple pie and custard for dessert (£5.95). The pie was freshly cooked but there wasn’t enough apple in it.

In conclusion,  the atmosphere was excellent but the food was overpriced for the portion and quality you get. The staff was very well trained, helpful and welcoming.

Starters start from £2.95, mains start from £9.95 and steaks start from £12.95.

  1. Nice post, I also found the atmosphere in this restaurant to be good, however like you said the food is a little over priced and it wasn’t very flavoursome. I ordered steak and chips, although the steak was cooked rare to medium like i had asked, it needed a little more seasoning. I probably would go again, but it would have to be for a special occasion.
